RT-ISMF | Indeterminate Music
MindFeedback Music was the brand name of a therapeutic system based on RT-ISMF (Real-time Indeterminate Synthetic Music Feedback). Because of its indeterminate and random structure, the music produced by this system relates to the compositional ideas of Pierre Boulez and John Cage. RT-ISMF was developed by Iebele Abel as part of his graduate research at Leiden University. The project was supported by Brenda Dunne (ICRL, Princeton University) and Paul de Blot (Nyenrode University).
According to Wikipedia:
"Between 2007 and 2013, the Dutch artist Iebele Abel developed an electronic instrument called Real-time Indeterminate Synthetic Music Feedback (RT-ISMF). The instrument was designed for empirical research on subjective experiences induced by real-time synthesized music, based on the output of electronic random number generators. The basic idea of this approach was that indeterminate music might evoke unique and exceptional human experiences."
